Community
At Gilbert our passion for rugby leads us to connect with athletes at every level of the sport, from junior programs, to club teams, all the way to the World Cup and IRB Athletes.
In Canada we are proud to support CIS University Rugby as well as College Associations.
While we are focused on supporting high performance sport in Canada, we are also passionate about bringing the community of rugby to new places. There are some incredible organizations across Canada who are growing the game and we are grateful to be able to partner with them and support them. You can click on the links here to learn more about the Toronto Inner City Rugby Foundation (and see the video at the bottom of this page), Iroquois Roots Rugby and Thunder Rugby.
We are proud to support THE MONTY HEALD FUND in support of women's rugby.
Monty Heald, who was a dear friend, and one of the founders of Gilbert Rugby Canada (formerly Monilex Sports Ltd.) was instrumental in supporting the growth of rugby in Canada and has been recognized by the Canadian Rugby Association as an honorary lifetime member. He was president of the Canadian Rugby Union for many years and lead the organization through many changes. With being a tremendous ambassador for our sport, representing the Canadian rugby community at local, provincial, national and international levels it is hoped that by recognizing him as a key leader of this Fund, it will ensure members of the rugby community in Canada remember the contributions he made, and motivate others to follow in his footsteps.
The mission of the Monty Heald Fun is to eliminate the “PAY TO PLAY” experience that athletes in the National Senior Women’s XV Rugby Team have faced, leave a legacy fund for future teams where possible, and provide funding for the National Age Group Women’s Rugby Teams.
